Fate?
If you believe in fate I think your loonier then a toon. If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be…I cant stand that. Fate does not exist. You a believer in the Bible? If so I don’t know how you believe in fate. Here’s is my thoughts on why, “what’s meant to be will happen,” doesn’t exist.
Do I believe in fate – no. Let us draw a distinction here between fate or predestination. By the way, there is no short answer to this with scriptural proof so get comfortable.
Predestination or fate – the idea that your life has been determined before you have lived or that the end your life will arrive at is inevitable. The idea of this comes from testament from Paul in Gal 1:15 and John 13:18. However close examination of the scripture shows that these verses have nothing to do with man being predestined rather they simply exhibit the calling out of the apostles in the formation and completion of God’s plan. We see examples of this throughout the Old and New Testament as individual lives are utilized though history in the completion of God’s grand plan.
In stark contrast to the idea of predestination is the fact that is boldly pointed out that man is a free will agent. Heb 3:6, 3:14, 6:11-12, 10:36 strongly points this out. In addition to this, the whole gospel of Christ is in stark confrontation to the idea of predestination. If we were predestined to be saved or lost, why did Christ have to die? This idea also spills over into our secular lives in that God made us free will agents in everything we do. He set creation in motion and we live and die by the choices we make. If we did not then how could we be punished for doing wrong or rewarded for doing right? We couldn’t because it was not our will but someone else’s will we were living by. Fate just does not and can not exist. I'm sorry.
